Petrit Metushi, ikona e Folklorit të Jugut është ndarë nga jeta ditën e sotme në moshën 95 vjeç.
Petrit Metushi ka lindur në Vergo më 1928 dhe në 24 maj 1949 arrestohet dhe dëhet me 20 vite burg me akuzën se ka strehuar diversantët e ardhur nga Greqia.
Pjesëmarrës në shumë festivale folklorike, rapsod, këngëtar, krijues e interpretues i polifonisë dhe monofonisë labe. Petrit Metushi ka qenë partizan, por prangat e diktaturës nuk e kursyen, duke e cilësuar armik të popullit. Megjithatë ai nuk u ligështua duke vazhduar luftën e tij me armën e trimërisë, këngën.
Të gjitha krijimet e tij, ai i ka përmbledhur në një vëllim të titulluar “Gurra gurgullon me ligje, herë si bilbil, herë si qyqe”. Dhe vërtet krijimi dhe interpretimi i Petrit Metushit këndon si bilbil në gëzimet njerëzore, por vajton si qyqe në hidhërimet dhe marrëzitë njerëzore. Për kontributin e tij, përveç çmimeve, certifikatave, urdhrave e medaljeve, që janë me qindra, ai është vlerësuar edhe me titullin ”Qytetar Nderi” i Sarandës.
