Përplasja fatale ndodhi në rrethrrotullimin e San Felice, ku makina e drejtuar nga 38-vjeçari, tip ”Volksëagen Golf”, e cila po shkonte drejt Gadesco-s, ka dalë jashtë kontrolli, është përplasur me një tabelë dhe më pas me bordurën e rrugës.
Nuk dihet ende shkaku i aksidentit, por një nga hipotezat e aksidentit është ajo e gjumit. Zjarrfikësve iu desh të ndërhynin për shumë orë në përpjekje për të nxjerrë nga makina 38-vjeçarin.
